Starting with the 2020-2021 ACLD Afterschool Tutoring Program, there will be new health and safety procedures including the following:
- There will be one teacher per classroom and one or two children per teacher (appropriately distanced apart).
- The number of children in the building at one time had to be reduced and there must be time between each cohort for sanitizing so there will be 3 time slots available:
2:40 – 3:40 3:50 – 4:50 5:00 – 6:00
- Daily symptom assessments of staff and children/adults
- Temperature check with no touch thermometer
- Anyone with a temperature of 100 degrees has to go home - Staff and program participants must be fever free for 24
hours without medication before they can return to ACLD.
- According to the CDC, people with these symptoms may have COVID-19:
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
• Drop off and pickup procedures:
- - There will be a staff member in the entryway at the child’s designated start time.
- - Parents will be asked to travel around the block by driving up Walnut Street and turning right on to Wood
Street so that their passenger door meets the sidewalk leading into the ACLD building.
- - Children will not be permitted to wait in the lobby so they cannot be dropped off early. They can be dropped off when a staff member is waiting for them at the designated time.
- - Parents must wait outside during each child’s session.
- - If parents need to come inside, please call the office
first and a mask must be worn.
- - No food or drink can come into the building with the child.
• Sanitizing:
- At arrival, everyone will be asked to use hand sanitizer.
- Each participant will have their own zip-lock bag with the
necessary equipment, such as pencils, pens, markers, etc. The bag will also include the child’s schedule card and a mask. The bags will be in cubby boxes in the lobby.
- Masks need to be worn upstairs. All employees will also be wearing masks.
- At the end of every class period, participants will be asked to use the hand sanitizer before moving to their next class.
- Staff will wipe off tables after each session. The door handles will also be sanitized several times per day.
- The children’s bags will be sanitized at the end of each session, before they are placed back into their cubby.
- The bathrooms will be sanitized regularly throughout the day
We understand that these changes may be challenging at first, but we appreciate your cooperation while we try to keep everyone safe. We are looking forward to working with your children this fall. Please stay safe and we will see you soon. If you have any questions call the office at 330-746- 0604.
